If you live near the Houston area, the TX Ren Fest is a great way to step back in time for the day. It's open annually on the weekends of October and November. They have a different theme every weekend. My family went opening weekend, which was Oktoberfest. Next weekend (Oct. 23rd and 24th) is Pirate Adventure, "Yo-ho-ho." It is so much fun to dress-up, and if you don't have the garb already, there are plenty of shops to buy "costumes." You can find more information at http://www.texrenfest.com/
